The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Energy Islands and HVDC Grid Investment Intern to support cooperation strategies with private and public stakeholders, energy market pundits, and industry associations for the KR Offshore HVDC Grid and Energy Island project.
You will play a crucial role in developing business plan for investment project, coordinating strategic partnerships, engaging with key stakeholders, and gathering market and regulatory intelligence to support strategic decision-making.
Are you a student passionate about energy transition and looking for hands-on experience with market-leading offshore wind and grid infrastructure projects? Join COP as a Student Assistant (Intern) in our Energy Island and Grid Investment Development team for a 6 month term ideally starting March 2026.
Your key responsibilities will include
Private sector collaboration:
- Coordinate and operate cooperation projects (i.e., co-feasibility study) with co-development partners
- Manage consulting project’s process and deliverables
- Support strategy development and execution for strategic partnership with the private sector, including potential off-takers, key parts providers, OWF developers, and EPC contractors
- Build broader alliances through industry associations, such as Korea Wind Energy Industry Association, and Korea Ocean Grid Industry Association, etc.
Energy market pundit cooperation and alignment:
- Coordinate and operate cooperation projects (i.e., co-feasibility study) with influential experts and his/her team
- Support building collaboration relationships with influential experts in government advisory boards for KR Energy Highway and renewable energy policy
Public sector cooperation:
- Support activities to convince key stakeholders in government and policy makers of KR Energy Highway and Energy Hub
- Support activities to convince policymakers of the need for private participation in major grid development and Energy Hub
Business Plan development:
- Build up business plan for offshore energy grid and/or Energy Hub projects
Market/Regulation Intelligence:
- Support CEI (Copenhagen Energy Islands) to have a clear understanding of the KR market and policy regarding Energy Highway and Energy Hub
- Provide CEI with timely updates on KR regulation related to Energy Highway and Energy Hub
Your experience:
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Business Administration, Economics, and/or Engineering focusing on energy transformation.
- Study or work experience in Energy Transition area is highly preferred
- Good understanding of KR decarbonization landscape and energy policy is a plus
- Proficiency in Korean and English, with strong communication and writing skills.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), with a proactive, independent mindset.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter with proactive attitude and can-do mindset
